Attorney

Sofia Reyes

Handles immigration matters and family cases, and works with clients in English and Spanish.

Biography

Sofia Reyes joined the firm in 2016 to build its immigration practice. She represents families applying for green cards and citizenship, and people facing removal in immigration court.

She grew up in Dayton, the daughter of parents who came to Ohio from Colombia, and spent much of her childhood translating forms and letters at the kitchen table. That experience is the reason she explains every document to a client before it is signed, in whichever language the client prefers.

Many of her immigration clients also need help with a family matter, such as a divorce, a custody order or a name change, and she handles those cases too. Knowing how the two areas affect each other avoids mistakes that are hard to correct later.

Before joining the firm she worked for a nonprofit legal services organization in Cincinnati. She lives on the west side of Columbus and volunteers at citizenship application workshops several times a year.
